Who Is Bob Proctor?

Bob Proctor’s Early Life

You may not know a lot about him but who is Bob Proctor? How did Bob get to where he is now? He started worse off than most of us. Through personal development, discipline, and the Law of Attraction, he has built himself up to lead millions of people out of their bondage and into abundance.

As a child, Bob Proctor was not particularly outstanding. He was kicked out of high school after 2 months and had no life ambitions. He joined the navy because “everyone was doing it” and then ended up working for a Fire department in Toronto. In tune with his prior recklessness, he had become laden with debt. A debt that was more than 150% of his annual salary. He was earning $4,000 a year and owed $6,000. He had no direction in his life and was clearly on the wrong path.

That was when he came across the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and was eventually introduced to Earl Nightingale. He used to listen to Earl’s record “The Strangest Secret” over and over again on a little record player while he was driving around in his car.

Bob began to expand his mind the through the discipline of reading and listening which lead him to act differently. He built a floor cleaning business and multiplied his income from $4,000 to $125,000 annually and in a short period of time after that to over a million dollars a year. He was cleaning offices in Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, London, England.

Bob realized the importance of what he was studying and that he had a passion for it and he eventually left the cleaning business and went on to work with Earl Nightingale at “Nightingale Conant“. Bob took a large pay cut when he left his business. He knew he needed to learn from Earl because he wanted to do what Earl was doing.

Bob Proctor’s Mentors and Influences

Bob Proctor has been influenced by a series of individuals and sees himself as part of a lineage that stretches back to Andrew Carnegie.

Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie Mentor of Bob Proctor

Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish-born, American Industrialist who was known for being one of the most successful businessmen ever. He was also famous for his philanthropy. Back around 1908, he was the wealthiest man in the world and considered the first millionaire. Carnegie said that any idea that is held in the mind, that’s emphasized, either feared or revered will begin at once to clothe itself in the most convenient, and appropriate form available. He achieved phenomenal success in the American Steel industry. Andrew Carnegie laid down a challenge to Napoleon Hill to interview him and many of successful peers to document the steps to success so that anyone could learn to do it.

Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill published an eight-volume book, called “The Laws of success,” The book was originally a course on which Hill toured with a series of lectures. Hill claimed the book was a response to a request from Andrew Carnegie. Later Hill went on to accept Carnegie’s challenge and as a response, published the book “Think and Grow Rich,” in 1937. This book is still among the top ten best-selling self-help books of all time.

Earl Nightingale

Earl Nightingale was a student of Think and Grow Rich, and was influenced by the book. He recorded the self-help training onto a series of vinyl records like Lead The Field“, including a condensed version of Think and Grow Rich The Strangest Secret. Bob Proctor was introduced to the book Think and Grow Rich, by Earl Nightingale. He listened to the audio recordings of the book produced by Nightingale hundreds of times.

You Were Born Rich & The Secret

Bob joined Nightingale Conant and sped through the ranks of the organization, helped by the mentoring of Earl Nightingale. This eventually led Bob to start his own seminars, Bob Proctor Seminars (now Paradigm Shift, The Matrix and more) and his publishing the book entitled You Were Born Rich. Bob was also involved with the Film, The Secret. The film was released in 2006, based on the work of author Rhondda Byrne. The Secret was based on The Laws of Attraction.

You Were Born Rich develops the themes promulgated by nightingale about the power of the Laws of Attraction.

The Secret was based on the concept that thoughts can change a person’s life direction. She postulates a three-step process which involves:

  1. Ask
  2. Believe
  3. Receive

The Proctor Gallagher Institute

In 2006 a successful attorney, Sandy Gallagher, attended one of Proctor’s three-day seminars. She was so affected by the event that she closed her law practice and chose to join Proctor. Together they founded the Proctor Gallagher Institute.

The Proctor Gallagher Institute has developed a range of educational material built around the Laws of Attraction and the core of this cognitive process is that humans operate on three planes:

  1. The Spiritual Thoughts Plane
  2. The Intellectual Ideas Plane
  3. The Physical Results Plane

Understanding these three planes is the key to understanding the laws of attraction.
